Simply Ice Cream
Is there anything quite like ice cream? It's cool, smooth sweetness is the perfect antidote or accompaniment to any occasion. Ice cream has been there for times of heartbreak, celebration and special theatre trips. I already shared the fact that I have a massive sweet tooth so it probably comes as no surprise that there's not really any sugar based treat that I wouldn't like, obviously ice cream is no exception. I'm also a big fan of local companies that use local ingredients, and Simply Ice Cream does just that. Consequently I was really excited to try some samples they kindly sent over. They have a list of flavours that include the traditional and some more exciting varieties- coffee and Kentish cobnut fudge, brown bread, Christmas pudding and apple crumble to name a few! In order to provide a well rounded review R duly offered himself as a second taste tester... just as a precaution, you see, in case my taste-buds were faulty for some reason haha!
We tried out Brown Bread, Pistachio, Salted Caramel, Mint Choc Chip, Coffee and Kentish Cobnut Fudge and Lemon Curd. We both appreciated the fact that the pistachio flavour (and in fact the mint) was not a garish green in colour and had a subtle nutty flavour with chunks of real pistachio dotted throughout. We both agreed that all the flavours were the smoothest, richest, and most decadent ice cream we'd ever tried, even more so than ice cream made from clotted cream. I'm not sure I can even really convey just how incredibly smooth all the Simply Ice Cream flavours were! The coffee and fudge flavour even included lovely big chunks of fudge which was lovely and tasty! Another big plus is that they don't use any additives, preservatives or artificial colours- win, win, win. So you can eat away to your hearts content whilst supporting a local business! Simply Ice Cream's packaging is also really cute with the pots in a lovely mint green shade which is pretty appropriate for an ice cream company!
Simply Ice Cream are a local award-winning company based in Ashford and can be found in Waitrose stores as well as delis and farm shops across the country. I've since noticed them stocked at my local cinema and theatre in Canterbury too! The company was created by Sally Newall (#GirlBoss) who previously ran a catering company before creating Simply Ice Cream in 2005 which is pretty cool in my opinion. You can check out their website here to find your local stockists to try out the indulgence for yourself. That Christmas pudding flavour might be a good one to try in a month or so ;)
Also, here are some cats eating ice cream for you-highly relevant!
