Life Lately :: February

Happy last day of February, where did that month go? I thought I would do a little round-up at the end of a month to share what's been going on and what I've been enjoying recently. So here's a few things that have been happening in February:

10,000 :: Average daily steps

Looking back over the month it has been a lot busier than I had realised, no wonder it's gone so quickly! This month I've really been enjoying being able to walk to work and it's had a really big impact on how much exercise I get every day. It's been so much nicer to walk even when the weather has been gross, and it's even better when I get to spot dogs on their early morning walks.

7 :: Books read

This month I've not managed to read as many books as I did in January. Last month I managed 12 books, compared to only 7 this month. I'm still really pleased with how much I've read, as it's been a big improvement on last year. I've managed to read more so far by taking any spare lunch breaks to read, bus or train journeys, or by turning off the tv much earlier in the evening, and it has made such a difference. I'll do a proper round-up of all the books I've read so far, some of them have been great, some not so much!

1 :: Weekend away in Shoreditch

Last weekend R and I took a weekend away to stay at the Citizen M hotel in Shoreditch and spent most of the weekend eating all the food. We started off at Broadway Market, dinner at Flat Iron Steak, breakfast at Dishoom, followed by Brick Lane and Spitalfield's Market before catching the train home! It was such a lovely stay and I just wish it had been a tiny bit longer.

2 :: Birthdays celebrated

This month we celebrated R's birthday as well as my niece turning 7. It was so fun catching up with most of the family for this, and it was great to see that the Sylvanian Family set I gave her was popular! They were my favourite toys to play with when I was her age, so it's so nice to see her enjoying them as much as I did.

2 :: New neighbourhood cats spotted

Cats, one of the best things always. We discovered two new little black cats hanging out by our shed one evening after work and they are the cutest. We have even given them nicknames, because that's the kind of people we are.

8 :: Episodes of McMafia watched

We just finished watching McMafia on iPlayer. It started off really well, had a small dip before it got better again. There were some good twists, and an episode didn't go by when I didn't make a wishlist from the interiors or costumes. I would recommend it if you're looking for something new to watch, plus it has James Norton in it, if that helps ;)

Here are a few things around the internet I've been enjoying too:

- This video from National Geographic.

- This piece on Zadie Smith Optimism and Despair.

- I haven't made this chicken and creamy garlic mushroom burger yet, but it looks amazing.

- Going to add some of these books to my reading list.

- These photos on the New Yorker.

- This post on internet friendships by Tenneil.

How has your month been?
