A Playlist for August
It’s been quite a while since I last posted a playlist here, over a year in fact. I thought now was as good a time as any to share a new one, especially as I love listening to other people’s. Making a new playlist always reminds me of being a teenager in Brighton, and making mix CDs with a friend, which we would then blast at volume whenever we went driving around.
I have a habit of listening to the same stuff repeatedly, so putting together new playlists and seeking out new songs to listen to is very much required, even if they still aren’t particularly new. Of course, there are always certain things that always seem to make it onto each new playlist; my love affair with Fleetwood Mac will never end. Even Pumpkin’s a fan.
I had forgotten how good The Shepherd’s Dog album was until I recently listened to it again. After that, a few of my favourite tracks had to make it into August’s playlist. Wolfmother was another re-discovery too. I love stumbling across bands or albums you once played constantly, but gradually disappeared from your general repertoire. It’s like remembering an old friend and acts as a time machine all in one.
R and I have started using my Bluetooth speaker to play music and podcasts while we sit and eat dinner in our nicely rearranged dining room and chat about the day gone and plans for the future. This playlist will definitely feature heavily as one of our dinner soundtracks this month.
